INFRASTRUCTURE
Our Container Terminal has been designed to operate Neo-Panamax ships with the help of the following installed infrastructure:
- Berth length: 702 meters
- Depth in the berthing box: 17.9 meters
- Total area: 54.9 hectares
- Container yard area: 27.7 hectares (capacity for 800 000 TEUs/year)
- Reefer container stacking capacity: 2 blocks with 1140 plugs
- Super Post-Panamax quay cranes (STS): 4 (65 tons lifting capacity with spreader). The current infrastructure supports the addition of 2 more cranes.
- Rubber tired gantry cranes (RTG): 12 (lifting capacity of 40 tons, stacking to 6 tiers high)
- Rail Mounted gantry cranes (RMG): 2 (lifting capacity of 40 tons, stacking to 2 tiers high)
- Empty container handlers (ECH): 2 (stacking to 7 tiers high)
- Prime Movers: 22 Units with trailers (additional 2 platform trailers) loading capacity 70 tons
- Intermodal railways yards area: 4 operational tracks with a longitude of 650 meters, 1 additional truck as external by-pass
- Radiologic controls: 2 X-Rays facilities with 2 high-tech scanners operated 24 hours by the General Customs of the Republic of Cuba
- Access Gates (automotive/railway): 6 and 2 (enabled with intelligent data capture systems: OCR, CCTV, CDI, Video-Intercom, LCD / LED display and radiological controls)
- Weighing system: 7 scales for motor vehicles (of which 2 internal to comply with SOLAS amendment)
The container yard is divided into three large areas.
- Empty containers
- Refrigerated containers
- Dry containers
The inner rail yard allows intermodal connection of the cargo to Loading and Unloading Centers, throughout the whole island, depending on the railway network under development by the country.
There is an area reserved for future expansion and total development of the project, in order to reach 2400 meters of dock and a total operational capacity in the yard of up to three million TEUs per year.
